Since my last update here, the company I work for has merged with another company based in Alabama, and had an aborted attempt at another merger in the Fall of 2004. Various restructurings have taken place. While I've been steadily employed for five years now, I'm eager to look for new opportunities. Since the merger in October of 2003, I've been working as an IT Security Engineer and immensely enjoying my work.

My current employer has recently announced an intent to merge with another telecommunications company. At this time I'm still employed but do not know what my job status will be like in the future.

Yes, I'm still looking for an alternative to my current job. I'm interested in job environments that are casual, fun and doing something really interesting.

It's been just over a year since I started working full-time at the local teleco, and I enjoyed the job immensely when I started. But in recent months I've found it less rewarding and more unpleasant then I would like. So I've started searching again, though I do not intend to leave my current job unless I can find the right position. Please be sure to check my updated resume on-line. Thanks!

After contracting at the telecommunications company for some months now, I've finally had my contract bought out. So starting in a few weeks, I'll be a permanent employee. My job searching is over! :)

For the past 3 weeks I've been on a long-term assignment with a local telecommunications company. This may develop into permanent work, but that remains to be seen. At this time I'm not actively looking for full-time work but I may still be interested in entry-level programming positions.

Currently I'm doing some short-term work through a local contractor, but I expect that to end in early October. So I'm still seeking full-time employment opportunities in Raleigh.

Objectives

In 1999 my main objectives were relocating to Raleigh, NC with my wife and establishing a new home for ourselves. In just a few short years we've bought a house in a beautiful neighborhood, established new careers and recently started raising a family. It's been a wonderful experience.

Of course in advancing one's career, you can't neglect the educational aspect. While I have an A.S. degree currently, I fully intend to get my Bachelor's, probably in the Computer Science or Information Technology fields, as soon as my circumstances permit.

About Me

I have been working with computers professionally for over nine years, primarily on the administrative side. For many years I desired to become a computer programmer, but that goal has changed and my career focus is currently on IT Security. Computers have been a passion of mine since I was a child, which eventually culminated in my earning an A.S. degree in Computer Programming from Santa Fe Community College.

I was born in Gainesville, FL in 1968 and lived there for much of my life. While working full-time I attended school part-time to earn my degree (with the occasional interruption, such as getting married in 1995). In the Fall of 1999, my wife and I relocated to Raleigh, NC and quickly established roots in our new home state. By November 2001 we had bought a house, and in January of 2003 my wife gave birth to Sylvia Mercer, :)
