My computer is now a 1.4 GHz AMD machine with half a gig of PC2100 memory. Everything else is the same. ...Except that it's currently running Linux. Debian had a problem with XFree86 and my video card, which I didn't particularly want to mess with. So I just said phuket and went with Red Hat 7.1. I'm grabbing Ximian now. If I can get GnuCash working, I may actually stay on the Linux side for a while...

Oh! I never mentioned it in the blog, but Jodi is coming to live with me. Good thing I got a two-bedroom condo -- it was a bit too big for just my stuff, but it'll probably be just about right for our stuff. Fortunately, I'm six foot three or four (depending on shoes and posture) and she's a floor-dweller, so we'll Jack Sprat the storage areas. This is weird and wonderful. I can hardly think of it as unusual in context, though; I did propose marriage within 24 hours of meeting her. It was one of those "ha ha, only serious" things:
"Hm. Smart woman, likes books, into languages... it may be a bit early to be asking this, but will you marry me?" "*laugh* Ask me again in a few years." "Okay."So the news that she's moving in is not altogether outrageous -- just slightly scary in a wonderful way. I really want this to work. I want us to work... wish us luck!
